F9815AG Autogated Pinnacle
I recently bought an AN/PVS14 and called ITT to see what tube was installed. They said it was an F9815AG. He also said it was autogated which I kinda figured out when I put it to my hear and heard the whine. I can only find ITT‘s minimum specs for this. He said he could not give them to me and they don‘t ship data sheets anymore. He did say it was originally sold to NVEC and not on a contract to DOD. Can anyone tell me more?

These should approximate what you have -

Thanks cj
I did have a similar spec sheet from ITT for this tube but what I was most curious about was whether it was actually a thin filmed tube. What would the difference be in halos between a thin and regular? Will they be a smaller diameter or more transparent than a regular tube?
Secondly on an unrelated question, is it ever legal to own a pvs14 that has a contract number on the body? I have seen these for sale and avoided them for fear of confiscation. I called ITT with my s/n before I paid for it to see if DOD owned it first. Just curious-thanks

Halo

Halo diameter is more related to the distance the photocathode is from the MCP.

Here‘s a better specification.

I can‘t answer your other question ( perhaps someone else has compared? ) but the smaller the halo, the less suitable for weapons use, as a rule of thumb.
