FLIR First Mate 224 Standard operating Temps Question
http://www.flir.com/cvs/americas/en/personalvision/products/scout/
Hello.

I have a question for someone who MAY know what the Firstmate Standard which I believe is the 224 model operates in Temps of 32f to 122f? And yet the 324 model does the -4f to 144f

Are these specs correct or is FLIR just trying to make their mode expensive 324 model look better?

I find it hard to believe that a modern Thermal unit wont operate under the normal specs of -4f . I live in an area that gets pretty cold and by their specs the unit wouldnt work. but I am not sure if they are tru or not? The storage temp is -4.

Anyone know or who can Ask FLIR whats going on? I couldnt get a response from them, but I am just a single buyer.

They are coming out with a new model the scout but again the specs are the same as the First mate just different color. Any Help would be great.

Also if anyone has a X100XP or X200XP for sale at a fair price speak up.

I found out from FLIR Finally
Well they finally got back to me after trying several times.

Basically their 224 model which is the Standard and Pro on both the first Mate and Scout are not Ruggedized and have NO HEATER! Also I believe the units are 100mK instead of 50mK like the 324 because of the detection range of 320meters which is in line with that.

So basically if you live in most of the USA 30+ states have a REAL winter below 32f the Scout or First mate 224 model is a WASTE OF YOUR MONEY. You will have to spend 5K and get the 324 model which is the same as the police patrol model.

Personally I SAY get a used 100xp or a new 200xp FOR $4200 LOWER RESOLUTION but it is combat tested in Iraq, I dont trust Flir, to not put heaters in a unit that they are marketing for Hunters etc. is 1. Stupidity and 2. Untrustworthy as who knows what else they cut back on.

Sign of the times, huh?

I‘m seeing a lot of this in different areas. I think it‘ll get worse as the economy gets tighter.
Too bad too.

Just get the X100 on ebay
The X100xp shows up on ebay from time to time and now the chance of them being stolen is less since the military are now using X200‘s plus alot of people are trading in their old version to get a discount on the newer version. so some deals can be had its not uncommon to get an x100 for under $3000, if its too cheap stay clear as it may be stolen.
