Hi There I need some help with a litton M-845 the tube does not eppear to work at daytime with the lens cover on you only see the reticle lit up, If you open the lens cap the tube appears to work only it needs full sunlight when I try it in moonlight there is nothing at all except if you get a direct beam of light from car headlights you see the beam whilst its pointing at the scope.
Your help will be greatly appreciated
Is any of the image visible brightly? It could be something like shading ( tube going to air ) that‘s covered the entire tube or it could be a failed power supply that can no longer maintain the screen voltage or photocathode voltage or similar.
I wouldn‘t go pointing it at headlights though, even if it looks dark. If it‘s the PSU, then I imagine it would still cause damage to the photocathode, even if the screen wasn‘t working.
Ed might be able to help... If he doesn‘t drop by this thread, you might want to email him or even send him your tube to look at. He may be able to repair it.
Thanks for your sugestions, the image is very dim i have tried adjusting the gain with no results, the brightness control does make the tube work but there is no real adjustment it is either dim or very bright so bright you can barley see the scene and there is a honeycomb patern showing, at least the tube hasnt totaly gone?
Regards John
